Embrace the Athlete-Entrepreneur Mindset: Insights from “Living in Total Health”

In today’s fast-paced world, balancing personal well-being with professional success can seem like a daunting task. However, my journey has shown me that it’s entirely possible when you embrace the Athlete-Entrepreneur Mindset.

As part of the soon-to-be-released book, “Living in Total Health: Inspirational Tales of Extraordinary Transformation”, I shared my story and some powerful techniques that have helped me and can help you too.

1. Preparation, Performance, and Recovery: Just like elite athletes, we all need to prepare, perform, and recover in our daily lives. This means having a clear plan before important events, being fully present during the event, and intentionally recovering afterward. For me, this realization was transformative. I started to see networking events, work presentations, and even personal milestones as performances that required their own cycle of preparation and recovery.

2. Identifying Both Personal & Profesional Performances FOR YOU: Performance looks different for everyone. It could be a major work presentation, a family event, or even a personal goal like running a marathon. The key is to identify these performances, understand the energy cost associated with them, and plan accordingly – tracking and recovery included.

3. Creating Your Own Performance and Recovery Protocol: To truly thrive, you need a personalized protocol. Here’s a simple framework to get you started:

  • Identify one performance in your life: it can be professional or personal, the only criteria is that it requires a fair amount of energy and/ or time, and it might feel like you need to recuperate after.
  • Preparation Plan: Define what you need to do beforehand to be at your best. This could include diet adjustments, mental rehearsals, or specific exercises.
  • Performance Game Plan: Set clear objectives and measures of success for your performance. Knowing what success looks like helps you stay focused and motivated. Keep it simple, no big complicated table that you won’t use.
  • Recovery Plan: Schedule activities that help you recharge – physically and mentally. This could be as simple as a walk in nature, a yoga session, or time spent reading a book.

4. The Power of Routine and Reflection: One of the most important aspects of this mindset is the routine. By establishing and refining your routine, you can ensure consistent progress. After each performance, reflect on what worked and what didn’t, and make adjustments to your plan.

5. Overcoming the Scarcity Mindset: A significant barrier many of us face is the scarcity mindset—the belief that we must sacrifice something to achieve success. However, by embracing a mindset of abundance, we can see that life is full of opportunities. This shift in perspective can unlock new levels of energy and creativity. I know it can sound like wishful thinking when you feel overwhelmed but read the full story in this book from me and the other coaches to find your own way to an endless beautiful horizon of the mind.

6. Joining a Community: Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals can provide invaluable support. Whether it’s a mastermind group, a professional network, or a close group of friends, having a community that understands and supports your journey is crucial. You can find it at an event, or during training, or here with this tribe (wink, wink).
